Warning signs
- Bleeding or tenderness around an implant
- Swelling or pus
- Gum tissue receding from the implant
- A metallic thread or surface becoming visible
- A loose implant crown
Treatment
Treatment depends on severity. It may begin with non-surgical cleaning and improved home care. More advanced cases may need surgical access to clean the implant surface, with regenerative procedures where suitable. In some cases removal of the implant is the most predictable option; we explain all options before you decide.
Common questions
My implant was placed somewhere else. Can you help?
Yes. We evaluate implants regardless of where they were placed and coordinate with your dentist. Bring any records you have, including the implant system if known.
