What we check
- Bleeding, swelling, or pus around the implant
- Pocket depths compared with earlier measurements
- Bone levels on periodic radiographs
- The fit and cleanability of the crown or bridge
- Your home-care routine and tools
Who is at higher risk
A systematic review by the AO and the American Academy of Periodontology identified a history of periodontitis and smoking as risk indicators for peri-implant disease. Patients with these risk factors may benefit from closer monitoring.
