Soft tissue grafting is a procedure we use to help patients who are experiencing gum recession. When your gums begin to recede because of periodontal disease, aging, over-brushing, and more, the roots of your teeth may be exposed. To defend against the discomfort, decay, and altered aesthetics that come with root exposure, we use soft tissue grafting to thicken the gum tissue or cover the root. There are three common types of soft tissue grafting, including free gingival grafts, connective tissue grafts, and pedicle grafts.
